Bernadine M. Kneip age 88 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 11:10am Wednesday Sept. 21, 2011 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born Jan. 4, 1923 in Metamora to Edward J. and Pauline (Gangloff) Schierer. She married Anthony J. Kneip on Jan.7, 1942 in Metamora, he passed away Jan. 20, 1998. Surviving are four sons, Daniel and Loretta of Tremont, IL; Richard and Nancy of Winnebago, MO; Robert and Sheri of Eatonton, GA; and William and Rita of Harrison, AR; 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Bernadine is also survived by one brother Edward (Gerry) Schierer of Metamora. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter Angela, and one great grandson Joshua, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Bernadine and Anthony lived in Benson, IL for one year, then moved to Metamora where she started working for H.W. Riggert M.D., then moving on to St. Francis Hospital, and later working for C.R. Heinzmann D.D.S. She also did volunteer work for Snyder Village. Member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, and was the first student to be awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Award at Metamora High School in 1940. She was a avid gardener, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Sat. Sept. 24, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora, with Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Recitation of the rosary will be at 5:30pm Friday at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation to follow from 6pm until 8pm. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary?s School and Snyder Village. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
