Benjamin Franklin Streid

Benjamin F. Streid, age 95, of Metamora, IL passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Snyder Village, Metamora, IL. He was born on July 18, 1921 to Peter F. and Ida (Imhoff) Streid in Worth Township, Woodford County, Illinois. He married Patricia A. Pearson on June 17, 1945 in Eureka, IL. She passed away on March 25, 2016. Surviving are his four children Mary Jeanne (Ray) Maynard, Kathleen Streid Noe, Peter J. Streid, and David (Kathy) Streid; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters Ruth Kellerstrass and Barbara Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ann Brown, son-in-law Michael Noe, and an infant brother. Ben was a graduate of Hickory Point Country School, Metamora High School, and University of Illinois. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he farmed in Metamora, IL, until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington, IL, the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He served on the Metamora Grade School Board, Woodford County Farm Bureau Board, and was one of three Founding Board Members of the Metamora Rural Fire Protection District.
