Barbara A. Spurgeon, 89, of Washington, IL, passed away at 8:31 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Homer and Eva Garber Keil on February 27, 1934 in Washington. She married Olen W. Spurgeon in Washington on October 16, 1955.

Surviving are her husband and two sons, Bradley (Jane) Spurgeon and Daniel (Kathryn) Spurgeon, all of Washington. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Brett (Holly) Spurgeon, Brittany (Zach) Jacobs, Courtney (Tyler) Johnson, Camille (David) Cales, and Sara Spurgeon; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Eva (Jack) Marcussen of Sparta, TN. Her sister Mary Speck preceded her in death.

Barbara was a Registered Nurse at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, where she was the Goodwill Ambassador for 35 years. Barbara was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until her time of service. Pastor Charlie McDonald will officiate. The burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to Methodist Hospice.
