Barbara Kuhn

Barbara J. (Block) Kuhn, 81, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Washington Senior Living in Washington surrounded by her immediate family.

She was born on November 26, 1942, in Peoria, the daughter of Alfred and Betty (Smythe) Block. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Terry Block, Gerald Block, and Cheryl Block, and her former spouse and father of her daughter, Phillip C. Kratzer.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Alicia "Ali" (Craig) Reisdorf of Washington; three grandchildren Jack and Bella Cusmano and Levi Reisdorf, one brother Al (Kathryn) Block of Peoria and their children Sarah (Block) Varnes and Alex (Jennifer) Block, nephew James Block of Peoria, and many cherished extended family members and friends.

Barbara graduated from Dunlap High School in 1960. She went on to practice as a licensed beautician and owned a beauty shop in the Peoria area for many years. She later worked as a day care provider and ran her own housecleaning business. Lastly, Barbara worked in a support services position at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for ten years before she retired. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), a community and collegiate service organization that has supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its international philanthropic project since 1972. Barbara treasured the time spent planning and organizing a yearly, local St. Jude Bike Ride in the early 80's. She also enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles, and gardening. Her most treasured time though, was spent with her grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4 pm until 6 pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Private inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
