A graduate of Lowpoint High School, she continued her education at both U of I and ICC. A stay-at-home mother for a large farm family, Barb followed the footsteps of her mother and worked at the Lowpoint Post Office for 17 years later in her life. Barb was a member of St. Elizabeth Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Washburn. She was a member of the Woodford County Home Extension, Roanoke Art League, and the Golf League at Snag Creek in Washburn. Barb enjoyed gardening and would pride herself in her large vegetable and beautiful flower gardens, especially her roses. As an avid quilter, often winning local and national awards for her work, Barb shared her talents by providing the family with gifts of embroidery and quilts. Barb's love of art was also evident in her hobbies of photography, oil painting, and stone sculpting. Many of these heirlooms the family treasure today. Barb and Gerald enjoyed the company of friends (the Big Six and Feather/Euchre), following their children's and grandchildren's sports and musical endeavors, and enjoyed traveling. A longtime Cub fan, Barb could be found doing needlepoint and listening to games.
