She worked as a bookkeeper for Farm Equipment Acceptance Corporation, before her marriage. She was a lifelong bowler, and a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress since 1962, bowling in several leagues, and a member of the Peoria 600 Club, bowling several 600 series since. A member of Woodford County Home Extension from 1979 to 2012, she made friends wherever she went. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Barbara was known for her skills in canning her garden's vegetables, always ensuring a supply of pickles and other favorites for her family. She also enjoyed making treats and baked goods for her loved ones, including her special version of "Rice Krispie Treats," a crowd favorite. She was a resourceful woman who made impressive use of the kitchen and the home she made with her Husband on Dutch Lane in Washington. As a young couple in 1963, Barbara and Wayne began their life together by converting a former one-room schoolhouse, which had been called Liberty School, into a home for their blossoming family. Barbara remained a resident of Dutch Lane in that special house for over fifty years and was a dear neighbor to all. In 2022, she transitioned to Evergreen Assisted Living Facility in Normal, IL, where she resided in her final years. While she lived in Illinois for 63 years, she never forgot her beloved Browns, Indians, and Buckeyes. She was deeply loved as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and will be sorely missed by all of the lives she touched with her fierce resilience and unconditional love.
