Asa "Gene" G. Kizer

Asa G. "Gene" Kizer, 86, of Metamora, IL passed away at 1:56 pm on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on December 29, 1931 in Belton, Missouri to Asa Gus and Arta Mayanna (Kline) Kizer. He married Doris Wood on June 26, 1954 in Lacon, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter Paulette (Curly) Delap of Metamora; son Ron (Tammy) Kizer of Lacon; grandchildren Aleatia (Kris) Okerberg, Amanda (Robert) Gillson, and Karly (Jason) Adams; great-grandchildren Dylan, Kayla, and Raymond Price, Jaylee and Emma Adams, and Cole and Logan Gillson; siblings Carole Rinehart of Stillman Valley, IL and Peter (Marcia) Kizer of Sugarland, TX; half-brothers Craig (Kelly) Kizer, Daniel Kizer, and Jeffrey Kizer all of California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister, and one half-brother.

Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an Illinois State Trooper with District 8 in Metamora for 29 years. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a 36 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Gene's nickname was Gunsmoke when working.
