Arthur M. "Art" Bernius

Arthur Merrill Bernius, 83, of Metamora, IL passed away at 4:45 pm on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 30, 1932 in Peoria, IL to Arthur M. and Lillian D. (LaConte) Bernius, Sr. He married Nancy Smith on December 1, 1957 in Princeville, IL. She survives. Also surviving are children Greg Bernius of Buda, TX, Jeff (Karen) Bernius of Portland, OR, Doug Bernius and Karen (Daryl) McCullough both of Metamora; two grandsons Nate and Cole Bernius; brothers Larry (Jean) Bernius of Wender, GA and Roger Bernius of Heyworth, IL; and sister Marilyn Allison of Roanoke, IL. He was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Bernius. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force 30th SSDS Unit during the Korean War where he was stationed in Presque Isle, Main and Brize, England. Art worked at CILCO for 34 years retiring as a supervisor in 1993. He was a member of Christian Union Church in Metamora. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 11:00 am at Christian Union Church with Reverend Gary Salm officiating with visitation held from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund or Metamora Food Pantry. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
