Arnold A. Grebner age 91, of Metamora, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday Sept. 26, 2013 at his home. He was born November 4, 1921 in Worth Township, Illinois to Albert and Elizabeth (Kneip) Grebner. He married Lillian C. Adams on Oct. 14, 1950 at St. Mary?s of Lourdes Catholic Church and she survives. Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Steve) Deatherage of E. Peoria, Joan Curry of Pontiac, Illinois and Tina (Matthew) Mueller of Springfield, Illinois. Six grandchildren, Jenelle (Paul) Wambold of MN., Julie (Marshall) Henry of Mahomet, IL., Jessica (Brett) Martin of Washington, Nick (Ali) Curry of Chicago, Joelle Curry of Milwaukee, WI., Edward Mueller of Springfield, IL., and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Alberta Murphy of Roanoke, and Jennetta Overend of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Celesta Koehn, Dorothy Grebner and a brother Gilbert Grebner. A World War II Army Veteran Arnold served in Army for 39 months with the 684th Ordnance Ammunition Company attached to the 5th Army serving in Africa and Italy for 28 months. He worked at Caterpillar for 39 years, working in the Heat Treating Dept. retiring in 1984. He also farmed for many years. Member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church for 61 years and a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post #89. Arnold enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing cards. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren, and attending their sporting events. He was a Avid Cardinal Fan. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Monday Sept. 30, 2013 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Ron Dodd officiating. Recitation of the rosary will be at 4:00pm with visitation to follow from 4:30pm until 7:00pm Sunday at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery with Military rites accorded by his Legion Post. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary?s School and St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
