Arbutus Wilson

Arbutus (Stauffer) Wilson of Snyder Village, Metamora left for her eternal home on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:30 am. She was born on May 7, 1932 to Harold and Mary J. (Shannon) Stauffer in Beardstown, IL. She married Al Wilson on March 16, 1951 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Peoria. She was a faithful and devoted wife and godly example to her two children and grandchildren. Surviving is her husband of 63 years. Also surviving is daughters Cindy (Greg) Schroeder, Peoria and Carol John of Bloomington; and grandchildren Jenny (Evan) Parker of Peoria, Garrett Schroeder of Elgin, IL, Lora John of Bloomington, IL and Nalin John of Champaign, IL. She was preceded in death by brother Brad Stauffer. She graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria in 1950 and graduated from John C. Proctor School of Nursing in Peoria in 1953. Arbutus was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she fellowshipped with her dear friends and served the Lord in ministries involving children. She then became the central supply chairman organizing and providing VBS and Sunday School with supplies. In retirement she moved to Little Swan Lake and enjoyed her home at the lake. She was a founding member of Little Swan Lake Lake Ladies and a member of Checkrow Community Church. Returning to Central Illinois in 2001, Al and Arbutus made their home at Snyder Village in Metamora. The family would like to thank Snyder Village Nursing Home and her nursing family on Hall 1 for the loving care she received these past six and a half years. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:30 am at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Richard Chamberlain officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Snyder Village, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or Youth for Christ. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
