Ann Barbara Pries

PEORIA-Ann Barbara Pries, 92, of Peoria passed away at 8:30a.m. Tuesday, December 6th 2016 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. She was born November 21, 1929 in Chicago, Ill., to Henry and Anna Marie (Vita) Newcom. Henry was a born in Switzerland and Anna was born in Lithuania. Ann married Robert Carl Pries on September 8, 1951 in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death. One brother preceded her in death, Henry H. Newcom. Surviving are four children, Barbara (Dave) Reaktenwalt, Mapleton, Ill, Thomas J. Pries, Peoria, Ill., Kathleen (Sam) Gordon, Jamestown, N.C., and Mary Ann (Owen) Adams, Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Melanie Thompson, Tina (Ryan) Bill, Laura Lutz, Jeffrey Gordon, Emily Gordon, Karen (Patrick) Knaak and Kate Reaktenwalt and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her caring in-laws, Chuck and Eve Pries and their children Lisa (Jim) Heck, Matt Pries, and Dan Pries. Ann and her husband were owners of the Robert Pries Funeral Home Lacon, Ill for forty years. They also served as Deputy Coroner and Coroner, respectively, of Marshall County. Ann was Assistant Brownie Scout Leader, President of the Junior Women's Club of Lacon, President of the Heart of Illinois Women's Club, Coordinator of Jail and Bail for the Cancer Fund in Lacon, and a Tour Escort for Peoria Charter Coach. She also worked for a time as a Sales Associate at Bergners in Peoria. Ann was a faithful member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria. A Memorial Service celebrating Ann's life will be held at the church at a later date to be determined. Cremation has been accorded. Her remains will be interred with those of her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. Memorial contributions may be made in Ann's name to Northminster Presbyterian Church.
