Anita F. Alberssen, 86, of Washington, IL passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Loft of East Peoria.

She was born on July 21, 1939, in Peoria, IL the daughter of Pete and Margaret Davis Melonis Sr. She was married to Phil Alberssen for almost 50 years. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.  She was also preceded in death by one son, Mark, on June 7, 2024, one sister, Irene Dudley and one brother Pete Melonis Jr.

Anita was a life-long member of the Washington Chamber of Commerce and was one of the founding members of the Washington Good Neighbor Days Celebration. Anita worked for the Morton and Washington Courier Newspapers for over 30 years before retiring to Florida.

Surviving are one son Scott (Melissa) Alberssen of Taylorville, IL and one daughter Michelle Renshaw. Also surviving are grandchildren Kyle Alberssen (Ana), Kelly Franklin (Paul), and many great grandchildren.
