Amanda Jane Hollis

WASHINGTON-Amanda Jane Hollis, 83, of Washington passed away at 11:30pm, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Washington Christian Village. She was born January 10, 1933 in McLeansboro, IL. the daughter of Inman and Opal Mezo McGill. She married William "Bill" Hollis on July 4, 1976 in McLeansboro, IL. He passed away on July 21, 2016. Also preceding her in death were two sons Billy Hollis and David Ellis; one daughter Patricia Hollis, one granddaughter Michelle Ellis, two sisters Alice Kelso and Glinda Sue McGill, one brother Jim McGill. Surviving are their children, Janet (Marion) Roberson of Pikeville, TN, Linda Webster of Washington, IL, Randy (Judy) Ellis of Eureka, IL, and Rick Ellis of Morton, IL Pam Keel of Cummings, GA, Mary Hollis of Acworth, GA and Mike Hollis of Union Springs, AL. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Further surviving are five sisters Dorothy Roberts of Peoria, IL; Grace Davolt, Mary Craddock, JoAnn Gray and Judy (Jerry) Prince all of McLeansboro, IL. Two Brothers John (Becky) McGill of Peoria, IL; and Gary (Sue) McGill of Benton, IL. She worked at Libby's in Morton, Toluca Garment Factory in Toluca, then for Caterpillar Tractor Company for several years. Later in life, she worked at Laborers Local 165 before retiring in 2009. Jane enjoyed many things in life including being an election judge in Tazewell County, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very giving and compassionate mother and grandmother. Known by "Grandma" by many, and will be missed every day. Services will be 10:00a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Gorby officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Rural Morton. Memorials may be given in her name to the Alzheimer's Association-Central Illinois Chapter.
