Alma M. Traver, 87, of Washington, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
On November 27, 1934, she was born in Franklin, IL, the daughter of Orville and Lola (Winter) Chapman. She married Richard Traver on May 26, 1952, in Franklin. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before he passed away on June 28, 2021. Three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Richard (Sandra) Traver of Washington, Dianne (Kerry) Morgan of Poplar Grove, IL, Noel (Kelly) Traver of Metamora, IL, and Roger (Nancy) Traver of Washington. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Heather, Patricia, Keegan, Drew (Erin), Elise (Nick), Dayna, and Megan, along with two great-granddaughters, Genna and Nora. Further surviving are two brothers, David (Ann) Chapman of Bluffs, IL and Keith (Carol) Chapman of Festus, MO.
Alma worked for 40 years before retiring to begin her most rewarding career as a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. Alma enjoyed motorcycling and camping. She always had a large garden and canned vegetables every year. Alma also enjoyed playing games of all kinds, all of these while surrounded by family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held, followed by a private burial at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Pastor Jason Alligood will officiate.
