Albert B. Eberly

Albert B. Eberly, age 94, of Roanoke, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 9:05 am at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home of Roanoke, Illinois. He was born on February 28, 1920 to Clayton and Carrie (Burkhart) Eberly in Orrville, Ohio. He married Salina S. Gnagey on May 4, 1946 in Pigeon, Michigan. She died on November 13, 2012. Surviving are five children, Linda (Elroy) Miller of Harrisonburg, VA, Nelson (Dorcas Yoder) Eberly of Hartville, OH, Thelma (Clayton) Nisly of Cuenca, Educador, Arlene (Ron) Kennell of Roanoke and Willard (Rhoda Snavely) Eberly of Manheim, PA; seventeen grandchildren of which ten are married; ten great-grandchildren; and eight siblings of his thirteen siblings, Edna Eberly, Dorothy (Carl, deceased) Steiner, Wilma (Tilman) Steiner, Homer (Marian) Eberly, John (Ruby) Eberly, Clarence (Luella) Eberly, Ray (Carol) Eberly and Glenn (Emma) Eberly. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters Evelyn and Aletha, and five siblings Wain (Viola) Eberly, Lloyd (Mary) Eberly, Earl (Lois) Eberly, Mildred Eberly and Ethel (John, deceased) Amstutz. Albert and Salina lived in the Pigeon, MI area from 1952 until 1987. Albert was employed at Pigeon Coop Elevator during part of that time. Soon after his retirement the couple moved to Rosedale, Ohio where they served on the maintenance and kitchen staff of Rosedale Bible College from 1989 to 2008. They were members of the United Bethel Mennonite Church in Plain City. In 2008 they moved to Roanoke, Illinois near their daughter and husband, Arlene and Ron Kennell. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:30 pm at United Bethel Mennonite Church, Plain City, OH. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church. Pre-funeral visitation will be held at 1:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
