At her residence, Aiko Shafer, 88, of Washington, IL, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022.

On January 17, 1934, she was born in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Katuo and Sue Kakia Sato. She married Arthur Sharer in 1958 in Japan, and he died on April 15, 2006. One son Robert Shafer also preceded her in death in 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Shafer of Washington, and Susan (and Carl) Geisler of Bunker Hill, IL.; one son, Ben (and Vickie) Shafer of Washington, IL; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be scheduled. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.
