Aaron B. Fletcher, 49, of Peoria, IL, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family in the early hours on Sunday, February 2, 2025, soon before a vibrant sunrise warmed the fields of the Illinois River Valley that he called home.
He was born on December 4, 1975, in Peoria, IL, to Gordon Lee and Donna Jean (Coy) Fletcher.
Aaron is preceded in death by his mother Donna Fletcher and his beagles Daisy and Missy. He is survived by his fiancée, Stephanie Gehrig; children, Noah (Grace) Fletcher and Eliza Fletcher; grandchildren, Nola and Sloane Fletcher; father, Gordon Fletcher; sister, Chanel Withers; and brother, Drs. Jacob (Maura) Fletcher.
Aaron was a loving partner, devoted father, grandfather, son, and brother. He gave unconditionally and was present in every moment, encouraging others to learn and explore. He provided his family and friends with the legacy of a farm including a pond, gardens, and trees to enjoy for years to come.
He valued and dedicated his life to horticulture, landscape artistry, saving trees, and was beloved by his loyal customers. His passion and curiosity for the outdoors made him an expert hunter, avid ice fisherman, prolific mushroom hunter, dedicated hiker, and daring skier. He was proud to be Eliza's first airplane passenger after encouraging her to become a pilot. His greatest joy in life were his precious granddaughters.
His love for learning, travel, and exploration took him and his loved ones on many adventures, even after his diagnosis. His absence is profound and he will be dearly remembered by every person and project he touched.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm with a funeral service following at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Pastor Mike Vanyzendoorn officiating. Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora, IL following his service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an Educational Fund for his granddaughters through Bright Directions. Checks may be made payable to Bright Directions and given to either a family member or the funeral home. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
