Raymond Schneider

Raymond F. Schneider, 91, of Washington, IL, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the Loft Rehab of East Peoria.

He was born on September 16, 1933, in Henry, IL, the son of Raymond E. and Helen G. Bracken Schneider. He married Shirley J. Speerli on June 25, 1954, and she passed away on November 29, 1988. He was also preceded in death by one son, Greg, one grandson, Kyle Coumbes, four brothers, and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Dawn (Michael) Coumbes of Murrayville, IL, David Schneider of Carrollton, TX, and Steve Schneider of East Peoria, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Marines, honored for his service, and was honorably discharged. Raymond dedicated many years to his craft as a skilled carpenter, working with Carpenters Local Union 237 in East Peoria, where he was known for his meticulous work and strong work ethic.

In his leisure time, Raymond was an avid coin collector. This passion allowed him to connect with fellow enthusiasts and share stories behind each treasured piece. He also found great pleasure in the simple joy of smoking his cigars. This pastime often accompanied moments of reflection and relaxation.

While there will be no public services, Ray's family will privately celebrate his life. His remains will be placed next to his wife in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
