Merle L. Wilson

Merle L. Wilson, 89, of Edwards, IL, passed away at 7:06 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.

He was born on March 21, 1936, in Peoria, IL, to Park and Velma (Zombro) Wilson.  He married Thelma D. Bailey Brooks on April 9, 1976, in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma of Edwards, IL; son, Travis (Joy) Wilson of Princeville, IL; and daughter, Tiffany (Randy) Diehl of Princeville, IL; two step-children, Theresa Friday of Peoria, IL and Keith (Donna) Brooks of Palm Bay, FL; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one  brother, and one sister.

Merle was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1959 to 1961.  He was a truck driver who drove for Long Rock in Princeville, IL for 27 years.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1961, the Scottish Rite, the Mohammed Shriners, and Teamster Local #627 for 40 years.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Laramie Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Winkler officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time, also on Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Laramie Baptist Church, 410 LaSalle Boulevard, Marquette Heights, IL 61554.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
