Kenneth William Willman, 94, of Metamora, IL passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 4:15 am at his residence. He was born on January 23, 1920 in Metamora to Louis Alvin and Edith (Cose) Willman. He married Genevieve "Gen" S. Alig on May 1, 1954 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora. She survives. Also surviving are children Mona (Steve) Robinson and Bruce (Sue) Willman, both of Peoria, Naomi Willman of East Peoria, Perry (Deb) Willman of Metamora, Valarian (Allison) Willman of Roanoke, Donata (Kenneth) Ripper of Pinellas Park, FL, Leslie Willman and Margo (Michael) Divett, both of Metamora; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Quenton "Babe" (Kitty) Willman of Peoria, and sister Phyllis Spore of Metamora. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law. Ken was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the Postmaster for the Metamora Post Office for thirty years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of NARFE, Woodford County Historical Society, and Izaak Walton League of America, Woodford County Chapter. He was the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 64, a charter member of the Metamora Association for Historic Preservation, Oakwood Cemetery Board third generation, member of American Legion Post 89 and was involved in placing flags on graves at local cemeteries. He volunteered at Snyder Village and for 30 years delivered nutrition dinners to shut-ins and the elderly. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora and Knights of Columbus Lady of Sorrows Council 3060. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Recitation of the rosary will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 3:30 pm with visitation to follow from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Metamora where military rites will be accorded by his Legion Post 89. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Metamora Fire Department, St. Mary?s School or the Metamora American Legion Post 89. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
