Josephine O. Grebner, 100, of Metamora passed away at 6:44 A.M. on June 12, 2013, at OSF Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Born on June 27, 1913, in Metamora, IL to Bernard and Anna Weber Krumholz. She married Clarence J. Grebner on October 24, 1933 in Metamora, IL. He passed away on February 13, 1974. Surviving are three sons, Donald (Carolyn) Grebner, Raymond Grebner, Eugene (Connie) Grebner all of Metamora; four daughters, Bernice (Milton) Scheirer, Mary (Sonny) Mitzelfelt of Metamora, Evelyn (Tom) McCormack of East Peoria, Christine (John) Gilles of Kickapoo and daughter-in-law, Helen Grebner of Bessemer, MI; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step great-great grandchildren and one brother, Joe Krumholz of Metamora. She was preceded in death by one son, Bernard; one grandson, Mark; three sisters, Elizabeth Noel, Anna Nauman and Marie Krumholz; three brothers, Daniel, John and Edward Krumholz. She was a member for 100 years of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora, and she was also a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Alter and Rosary Society. She was a past member of the Spring Bay Quilter?s Club. She was the 2005 recipient of the St. Isadore Rural Life Award from the Diocese of Peoria. Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved the family farm where she loved to garden, bake, and can fruits and vegetables. Josephine was famous for her homemade sausage, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls and especially her "Apple Cream Pie." She enjoyed quilting, embroidering and playing euchre with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved being around people, and never knew a stranger - she had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She always made room for one more at the dinner table and no one left her table hungry. Josephine had a big heart and always had a smile. When she laughed, she laughed all over. Family and friends will remember hearing her say, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." A funeral Mass will be at 10 A.M. on June 17, 2013 at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on June 16, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 P.M. Burial will be in St Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in Metamora.
