Joann R. VanWinkle, 40, of Peoria Heights, passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1974 in Aurora, IL to George R. and Karen K. (Hirsch) VanWinkle. Surviving are her parents of Germantown Hills, sister Erica (Dr. Tony) Moravec of Wahoo, NE; grandmother Gertrude Hirsch of Columbus, OH; nieces and nephews Wyatt, Macy, Quinn, Levi and Nate Moravec; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents George and Irene VanWinkle; maternal grandfather Keith Hirsch; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and one infant nephew Brody Moravec. Joann worked at CEFCU in records for 14 years. She was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria where she was active on the church?s finance team and small group ministries. She was a member of Peoria Zoo. She enjoyed traveling on her trips to England and Ireland and out west to Colorado. She enjoyed doing word puzzles and watching her favorite game show The Price Is Right. She loved all types of chocolate, interacting with her nieces and nephews and most of all, Jesus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Pastor John Chaney officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm at West Cemetery, Thayer, IL.
