Carl W. Schaidle

Carl W. Schaidle, Jr., 89,of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 11:40 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Kankakee, IL. He was born September 22, 1924 in Metamora, IL to Carl W. and Clara (Schneider) Schaidle, Sr. He married Iona B. Schrock on June 26, 1945 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Surviving are his children, Diane (David) Cramer of Eureka, Carl (Paula) Schaidle of Metamora, Rick (Donna) Schaidle of Manheim, PA, and Denise (Bob) Daly of Davenport, FL. Nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are his siblings Joseph Schaidle, Walter (Patricia) Schaidle, Donald Schaidle, Gerald (Judith) Schaidle, Esther (Donald) Miller, all of Metamora and Hildegard Haedicke of East Peoria. Two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Carl was a World World II Army Veteran. He worked in the galvanizing department at Keystone Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He also was a concrete contractor for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora, Knights of Columbus, Lady of Sorrows Council #3060, Woodford County Farm Bureau, and Metamora American Legion Post #89. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic School.
