Thomas R. Finson, 79, of Washington passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Unity Point Health Proctor in Peoria.
Tom was born on August 31, 1939 in Pekin the son of Sincero and Hazel Schaefer Piscagelia. Tom married Sandra Wissell of Washington in 1960 and was the father of two children Stephanie and Christopher. He later married Nola Jone Burn in 1992, and she passed away on December 31, 2010.
Tom leaves no relatives other than his children.
He was a first generation Italian, his father being born in Italy and his grandfather being born in Sicily. Tom was always proud of his Italian heritage and spoke some Italian.
Tom was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. He then attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, ME taking math and physics, graduating in 1959. He then attended Valpo Tech in Valparaiso, IN. and later attended Devry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL where he graduated with an A.A.S. in electronics.
He had many hobbies, including woodworking and videography. He made beautiful items with wood and created many historical videos of Washington. He loved history and was especially proud that he took part in the restoration of the original church bell at his church. He was a longtime member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for Tom is scheduled for 10:00am Monday, December 3, 2018 at Crossroads United Methodist Church.Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to his service also at the church.
