Stephen Frederick Zoss

Stephen Frederick Zoss, 72, of Morton, IL passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at his residence due to cancer.  He was born on February 10, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Willard F. and Lois L. (Gross) Zoss.  He married Julie Ann Kendall on April 12, 1969 at First Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa.  She survives.

Also surviving are his son Benjamin F. (Shantel) Zoss of Morton; daughter Gillian E. Zoss of Berekely, California; two granddaughters Madeline and Mallory Zoss; four sisters Cheryl (Mahlon) Householter of Eureka; Carolyn (Rod) Gerig of Lebanon, Oregon, Marilyn (Randy) Kleist of Peoria; and Betty (Rod) Detweiler of Centreville, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

Stephen retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 2002 after 31 years of service, last working in Service Publications.  Because of the influence of living on a farm in his early years, he helped farmers with the fall harvest for almost 30 years.  After retirement, he also drove a school bus for Metamora Township High School and Morton Community Unit School District.  He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Morton.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at First Mennonite Church in Morton.  Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at First Mennonite Church in Morton and also one hour prior to his service on Wednesday at the church.  A luncheon for family and friends will follow his service.  Inurnment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Peoria Rescue Ministries, P.O.
