Rose Fischer Obituary

Rose Marie Fischer, 81, of Washington, IL passed away at 9:20pm, Monday, May 28, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL with family by her side.

She was born on August 26, 1936 in Carthage, IL the daughter of Marion and Harriett Jones Akers.  She married LeRoy Fischer on May 11, 1957, in East St. Louis, IL.

Surviving are her husband and their three children, Ronald (Chris) Fischer of Deland, FL, Deanna Fischer of Washington, IL, and Cynthia (Jarrod) Stoutenborough of Stafford, VA.  Also surviving are four grandchildren Hayley (Matthew) Schwindenhammer, Abby Stoutenborough, Nicole (Brian) Smith and Zachary Peckenpaugh along with2 great granddaughters Emma Jane and Faith Anna.  Further surviving are one brother James (Judy) Akers of Millstadt, IL and Louise (the late Don) Surber of Freeburg, IL. Her parents and two brothers Louis and Marion Jr. preceded her in death.

Rose was a 58 year member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.  She was an LPN retiring in 1995 from the Apostolic Christian Home-Eureka.   After her retirement Rose and her husband have been delivering prescriptions for CVS drug store in Washington for several years.  A devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother and great grandmother, she will always be remembered as the true heart of her family.  The family would like to thank the staff at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for their exceptional care of Rose.

Services are scheduled for 10:00am Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Crossroads United Methodist Church 1420 N. Main St in Washington. Pastor Sarah Wanck will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, June 1, 2018 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Additional visitation will be from 9:00am until 9:45am at the church.  Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be given to Operation Smile, St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Crossroads United Methodist Church, or OSF Richard L.
