Ronald Bastian Obituary

Ronald O. Bastian, 68, of Bayview Gardens passed away at 1:03pm, Monday, November 18, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was born on April 24, 1951 in Peoria the son of George and Evelyn Crandell Bastian.  He married Patricia Nelson on June 20, 1969.   He later married Brenda Masters on April 6, 2013.  She survives.

Surviving are one son Robert of Chicago, one daughter Sandy (Paul) Patterson of Spring Bay; two grandchildren Brendan Patterson and Cara Patterson.  Further surviving are two brothers Charles (Anita) Bastian of Cuba, IL, Don (Jan) Bastian of Riverwoods, IL; two sisters Barbara Stear of Peoria, IL, Karen (Randy) Meyers of Chillicothe, IL; along with two sister in laws Linda Bastian of Newark, AR and Barb Bastian of Washington, IL.  Ron was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Bastian, his parents, three brothers George, Gerald, and Steve and one sister Patricia Jones.

Ron worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 41 years, retiring in 2013.  He was a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion where he also served as past Squadron Commander and Treasurer.  Ron was a Spring Bay Township Trustee.

Ron loved Nascar, woodworking, traveling and spending time in his garage.  Most of all, he loved being with his grandkids and attending their many activities.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.  Graveside service for burial of ashes will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Spring Bay Cemetery with Chaplain Linda Bastian officiating.  Following the services a gathering will be held at Spring Bay American Legion.
