Robert "Bob" Harris

AVA – Robert J. “Bob” Harris, 81, of Ava, IL formerly of Washington passed away at 9:29AM, Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his home in Ava. 

Robert was born on February 3, 1937, in Wolf Lake, Illinois the son of Ardell and Pansy (Phillips) Harris. He was in the U.S. Army during the yeas of 1960 to 1962, Bob married Donna E. Schmidt on December 8, 1962, in Washington, Illinois and they shared 55 years of marriage. Bob was retired from Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ava and a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington, IL. Bob was an avid fisherman and outdoors man. 

Bob is survived by his wife; Donna E. Harris, of Ava, 2 sons; Donald (Dawn) Harris, of Derby, Kansas, and Ken (Jonna) Harris, of Parkland, Florida, 2 grandsons; Caden and Chase Harris. Bob is also survived by a sister; Ruth Tripp, of Murphysboro, and a brother; Russel Harris, of Phoenix. Arizona.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Albert, Mabel, Marie, Paul, Fredia, and Margaret.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Ava, with Rev. Bill Stoklosa officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening at the Wilson’s Funeral Home in Ava where friends may call from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, and then on Tuesday from 7:30AM to 9:00AM and from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the church. Further visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with a graveside service to follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 208 S Russell St, Ava, IL 62907 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
