Randy was born to Charles and Shirley (Barrett) Turner on March 17, 1949 in Coco Solo Canal Zone, Panama. He married Rebecca Ann Small on November 27, 1971 in Peoria, IL.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Jace (Shannon) Turner of Peoria, IL, Dustin (Ashley) Turner of Palm Springs, CA, and Carly Turner of Peoria, IL; and grandson, Braiden Robinson of Peoria, IL. Randy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he also worked as a cook. There he earned the nickname "Spoon" for his exquisite cooking. He took those skills with him back home and was always best known for his brownies and his bbq ribs, which are going to be sorely missed. After the army he spent 33 years as a gas dispatcher for CILCO in Peoria, IL, retiring in 2004. He loved hockey and was an assistant coach at the Owens Center in Peoria for many years. Randy was always a huge fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, as well as the Cubs and the Bears..."Bear Down". He enjoyed golfing and especially enjoyed music. He was even a drummer in a band, both in high school and later on in life. He shared those skills with his grandson, they enjoyed their time drumming together. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, playing games, laughing, and, of course, the occasional bantering. He will be missed.
Randy was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. His family and his cat, “Ozzy”, will miss him dearly. His grandson ,“Little Buddy”, has now gained an amazing angel to watch over him.
