Nadine Bennett

Lois Nadine Bennett, 88, of Washington passed away at 2:40am Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Nadine was born on September 30, 1930 in Ackerman, MS the daughter of Berlin and Olene Wiygul Ming.  She married Willie R. Bennett on April 16, 1949 in Amory, MS.  He passed away on June 15, 2016. One grandson Michael Nygaard, her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters Diane (Larry) Schupp and Donna (Dave) Nygaard both of Washington.  Also surviving are three grandchildren Dean (Meredith) Ribak, Ginger (Andy) Light and Jim (Stephanie) Nygaard.  Further surviving are 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Growing up during the Great Depression, Nadine learned to work hard and be thrifty. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as time in the kitchen, canning vegetables and cooking.  For many years Nadine was a doll collector and was very crafty and creative sewing many clothes for them, she also sewed quilts as well as making countless clothes for her family.  Nadine was blessed to have many friends and family around, many of whom helped her to age gracefully. Her keen wit and sense of humor were endearing.

Services for Nadine will be 11:00am Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Mason-White Funeral Home.  Pastor Mike McCoskey will officiate.  Visitation will be Wednesday February 6, 2019 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm also at the funeral home.  Burial will follow her service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to OSF Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
