Martha Jane Wahl

Martha “Jane” (Cunningham) Wahl, 85, of Metamora, IL passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  She was born on December 22, 1933 in Rogersville, Alabama to Lee and Litha (Casteel) Cunningham.  She married Thomas V. Wahl on September 19, 1954 in Peoria.  He survives.

Also surviving are their three children T.L. Wahl of Boyne City, Michigan, Teresa (Steve) Parks of Metamora, and Carolyn (Dominic) Irrera of Peoria; and their four grandchildren Nathan Parks of Metamora, Lauren (Anthony) Gray of Eureka, and Jordan Gunn and Chloe Gunn both of Peoria.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Ceibert, Marvis, and Bobby Cunningham.

Jane moved to Tennessee in 1943 where she attended school and graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1952.  In 1952 she came to Peoria and worked for two years at Roszell’s Sealtest.  She attended Brown’s Business College in Peoria.  In 1969 she began working at Sears from which she retired in 1992.  In years past she was active in the churches she attended.  Most recently, she attended Liberty Bible Church in Eureka.  Being with family was the activity that Jane enjoyed most.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Liberty Bible Church with Reverend Thomas Zobrist and Reverend Dan Waller officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until time of her service on Friday at the church.  Private burial will be on Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association, 325 East Queenwood Road, Morton, IL 61550 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate, 530 NE Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, IL 61637.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
