Kelly Stewart Obituary

Kelly D. Stewart, 66, of Washington passed away at 2:45pm, Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born on August 18, 1952 in Litchfield, IL the son of the late Robert and Anna Mae Ratts Stewart.  Kelly married Randi Sue Baker on April 7, 1990 in Washington.

Surviving are his wife, one son Brad (Mandy) Stewart of Washington; two daughters Samantha (Wes) Hyatt of Washington and Lisa (John) Green of Deer Creek, IL; two step daughters Lori (John) Ham of Plainfield, IL, Lisa (David) Nuest of Metamora and one step son Brian (Hilary) Reiner of Washington, IL.  Further surviving are 14 grandchildren: Jordan Guedet, Jake and Jackson Stewart, Alexis Sullivan, Austin Baker, Haley, Bryce and Macy Hyatt, Julia and Brianna Ham, Landon and Andrew Nuest, Cruz and Eliza Reiner and one brother Kevin (Cheryl) Stewart of Washington, IL.

He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran. Kelly  then worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. both in East Peoria and Mossville for 38 ½ years retiring in 2012. 

Kelly was a member of American Legion Post 100 in Washington. He was also a member of Grace Bible Church where he served as a Deacon, Recording Secretary and Sunday School Superintendent.  Kelly especially enjoyed working with Awana and the Jr, High Youth Group and short term mission trips.  He was a member of Pine Lakes Golf Club, and also golfed with the Caterpillar Golf League.  Kelly served as a caddy for his grandsons Lil Guys and Gals Tournament every Father’s Day.  Kelly was a member of Five Points in Washington and also served on the Washington Rec. Association with years coaching his son’s team and later coached his granddaughter’s softball team. 

He loved playing and teaching sports to his grand kids; baseball, basketball and golf, along with helping them do their homework, taking them and their friends to Awana.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Illini fan.  Kelly also enjoyed his salmon fishing trip with his brother to Alaska. 

Visitation for Kelly will be Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington.  A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00am Friday, November 16, 2018 at Grace Bible Church.  Pastor Adam Kipp will officiate.  Military honors will be rendered after his celebration of life service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Grace Bible Church, Bill Maher Veteran Memorial Fund or to American Legion Post 100 all in Washington.
