She entered this world on January 6, 1930 in Herrin, IL. to the late Elmo and Willie May McElroy. Her stepfather Parker Bigley and her brother Jim Bigley preceded her in death.

She married Maurice (Maurie) Young on June 27, 1948. They were married 52 years. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2000. She is survived by her children, Marcia Young Franics (Mark) of Milford, MI, Beverly (Bob) Brucks of Washington, IL, Ed Young of East Peoria,IL; 4 grandchildren, Danielle (Bill) Purcell, Alyssa (Dave) Dykstra, Christopher (Ashley) McAvoy, and Adam (Monica) Brucks and 5 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Reese, Grace, Cade and Nora. Also surviving is her stepmother Nina Bigley, one stepbrother Phillip Bigley, one stepsister Beverly Betlach and her cousin Barbara Smoltz.

A graduate of Canton High School and Illinois Central College; Jane taught nursery school for many years, last teaching at Faith Lutheran Child Care. She was a lifelong member of Washington Christian Church. She loved dance and theater, performing as a little girl on the variety show stage. "MaMa" Jane was the family keeper of memories and enjoyed sharing stories with her grandchildren. She loved a good "game night" with friends and family and created treasure hunts for the children on holidays. She enjoyed golfing and spent many mornings with her husband and friends at Hillcrest Golf Course. Maurie and Jane loved learning and participated in Elder Hostel trips during retirement. We were blessed to have her as a mother and she will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the kindness and care provided by the Apostolic Christian Restmor (Morton) staff.
