Gary L. Strubhar, 77, of Pekin, IL passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was born on March 18, 1942 to Elmer and Mary (Evans) Strubhar. He married the love of his life LaVerne Watson. They had been married for 39 blissful years.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife LaVerne; his children Eric (Stella) Strubhar of Peoria, Cheryl (Zac) Oedewaldt of Hanna City, Beth (Tracy) Gilmore of South Pekin, Jeff (Kimberly Rae) Strubhar of Miramar Beach, FL, Jerry Simmons of Pekin, and Nicole (Gregory) LeFleur of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren Eric and Clinton Strubhar, Samantha Hippen, Jacob Hines, Sara Leadley, Alli Simmons, Brandon, Joseph, and Zachrey Strubhar, Shaun, Chloe, and Baeli Simmons, Emilly and Ian LeFleur, and David and William Strubhar; and great-grandchildren Lilian Allen, Lucas Leadley, Ava, Addison, Brooklyn, and Riley Hippen, and Bentley Erxleber. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son David G. Strubhar.
Gary was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served from 1960-1964 stationed in Rhode Island. He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire before retiring in 2007. Gary was a hard working, loving, and nurturing husband and father. He loved nothing more than raising his family. He loved being outside, liked to fish, and was a die-hard Cubs fan. Go Cubbies!
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Father Timothy Nolan officiating with military rites following his service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after his service.
