Emerson Roy Bill, 90, of Eureka, IL, formerly of Lowpoint, IL passed away at 1:45 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing in Eureka. He was born on November 15, 1928 to Ben and Emma (Wyss) Bill in Minonk, IL. He married Goldie M. Hilliard on December 30, 1949 in Lowpoint, IL.
Surviving are his wife Goldie of Eureka; children Jeff (Virginia) Bill of Mooresville, NC, Kenneth (Brenda) Bill of Roanoke, Brian (Andrea) Bill of Eureka, Douglas Bill of Lowpoint, and Sheryl (Todd) Bill-Mayo of Franklin, TN; grandchildren Andrew (Amy) Bill, Caleb Bill, Brandon Bill, Erin Bill, Danielle Bill, and Alex Bill; and great-grandchildren Lily Mae Bill and Max Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, infant twin daughters, three brothers, and five sisters.
Emerson was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean War. He was a 1958 Eureka College graduate. He was a teacher at Lowpoint-Washburn Junior High and High School for 31 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Cub Scout Master in both Bloomington and Washburn. Emerson was a previous member of Washburn Christian Church and had served as a deacon and elder and taught Sunday School teacher. He was a member and past-president of the Washburn Lion’s Club, Sigma Zeta Honorary Science Fraternity, Lowpoint-Washburn Education Association and also a member and past-chairman of the Woodford County Retired Teachers Association. He was currently a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Metamora, IL where he had served as an elder.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Faith Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Dan Leman officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and also one hour prior to his services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn with military rites accorded.
