Elmer B. Weers

Elmer B. Weers, 83, of Washington passed away at 1:15am, Monday, November 25, 2019 at his residence.

Elmer was born in Streator, IL on December 5, 1935 to Albert and Gladys Schneider Weers. He married Linda J. Davis on September 1, 1957 in Streator.

Surviving are his wife, their  four children, Tina Welch of Bloomington, IL, Kim Weers of Eureka, IL Mark (Glennda) Weers of Minonk, IL and LaJean (Jim) Roberts of El Paso, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jamie, Cory, Jeremy, Casie and Claire, two great grandchildren Elizabeth ”Liz”and Ellsworth “Worth”. 

Elmer was one of fourteen children, 7 girls and 7 boys, with one surviving sister Betty Clevenger.  His parents, 6 sisters, Vivian, Lillian, Eva “Sis”, Dorothy, Carolyn, Marilyn and 7 brothers, Donald “Sonny”, Raymond “Babe”, Robert “Bob”, Virgil, Jimmy and Freddie preceded him in death. 

He was raised in Flanagan IL and attended Flanagan schools. Elmer and Linda moved to El Paso IL, where he was a farm hand. He then began working at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1967 and retired from there in 1994.  They retired to Arizona and resided  there until 2015, moving back to Illinois to be closer to family. Elmer loved to fish and gardening or helping on the farm. He was always involved with any kind of church activities.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family service will be held at a later date.
