Dennis "Denny" A. Turner

Dennis A. “Denny” Turner, 77, of Metamora, IL passed away at 9:53 pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria.  He was born on March 15, 1941 in Peoria, IL to Clarence L. and Mildred (Nutt) Turner.  He married Jan M. Gangloff on September 21, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora.  She survives.

Also surviving are children Craig (Andrea) Turner of Dunlap and Gretchen (John) Evans of Metamora; grandchildren McKenna and Addison Turner and Sophia and Alyssa Evans; siblings Donna (the late Ben) Bailey of Mapleton and Louie (Joanie) Turner of Metamora; and many nieces and nephews.

He was very involved in roofing for all of his working life.  He was a volunteer fireman in Metamora for 18 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.  He served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. His greatest joy was spending time with his four granddaughters as well as hunting and fishing.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 89.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Easter Seals, 507 East Armstrong Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
