Christopher L. Holderness, 52, of Sunnyland, passed away at 8:10pm, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at his residence.
Chris was born on May 11, 1966 in Peoria, son of William C. and Judith A. Houlihan Holderness. He married Andrea Morris on January 26, 1991 and later married Eugenia Frye on April 29, 2006, in Groveland and she passed away on January 17, 2016. Also preceding him in death was his father on December 14, 2012.
Surviving are his mother Judith Holderness, two sons Andrew Holderness and Conner Holderness all of Washington. Also surviving are one step-son Justin Brinker of Odessa, TX; two brothers William “Butch” Holderness of Washington and James (Gable) Holderness of Green Bay, WI. Further surviving are two aunts Terri (Rodney) McKimpson and Jackie (David) Fuller both of Tremont; four nephews Donovan, Eli, Spencer, Reid and his first wife Andrea (David) Finck of Washington. Close friends Brent Shelton and Gary Melton and close neighbors Dave (Gabriel) Williams also survive Chris.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran serving during Operation Desert Storm. After his discharge, he began working for Keystone Steel & Wire for 25 years as a fence machine operator.
Chris was a member of the National Rifle Association, He was a permanent figure in the lives of his boys and enjoyed watching them play sports. Chris was also very active and took pride in his work. He enjoyed many things in life especially the company of his family and will be missed by all that knew him.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00am Monday, July 30, 2018, at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Washington High School Lacrosse Program or the Washington High School football 12th Man Organization.
