Barry Allen Todden, age 54, of Bloomington, IL, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care. Barry is finally at peace after struggling for many years with an illness which limited his joy of life.
He was born on October 4, 1963, in Peoria, IL, the son of Jerry and Zerlean (Johnson) Todden. Barry grew up in Metamora where he attended local schools and graduated from Metamora High School with the class of 1982. He went on to attend Illinois State University.
Barry was passionate about sports and loved playing baseball and basketball in high school and college. He moved to St. Louis for a time to be near his beloved Cardinals and dreamed of becoming an announcer at Busch Stadium. However, Barry’s illness stole that dream away and in the years that followed life was a series of struggles. His family sought to support him in whatever way they could.
He is survived by his father, Jerry (Cris) Todden of The Villages, FL; one brother, Brad Todden of Bloomington; and three nephews, Michael (fiancé Jordan), Joshua, and Zachary Todden. He is preceded in death by his mother, Zerlean. Barry’s family finds comfort in knowing that peace is finally his and that he is once again with his mom. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service for burial of cremains will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora at a later date. Memorials in Barry’s name may be made to the McLean County Center for Human Services, 702 West Mulberry Street, Bloomington, IL 61701. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
