Mary Lou (Schmutz) Meis

Mary Lou Meis, 87, of Metamora, IL, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Snyder Village in Metamora.

She was born on December 19, 1936, in Delavan, IL, the daughter of John and Edna Christensen Schmutz. She married the love of her life, Robert Meis, in 1958 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Peoria.

Her husband and their children, Kathy (Richard) Steele of Metamora, Kevin (Cindy) Meis of Peoria, and Jackie (Jerry) Catton of Arkansas, survive. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Her parents and six siblings preceded her in death.

Together with her husband, Robert, Mary Lou embraced the snowbird lifestyle. They traveled with the seasons in their RV, exploring the beauty of nature and the warmth of different communities. This adventurous spirit was matched by her deep commitment to her family. She relished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora. Visitation will be one hour before her service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
